The process of aging…

VickiDadPat1953

Having recently (almost a year ago) celebrated (no pun intended) my 60th birthday, I am almost obsessed with the process of aging.

You see, I don’t feel any different than I ever did. Oh, other than the usual aches and pains and not being able to keep up like I used to…

I mean I still feel like a kid inside.

And a teenager at times.

And an old lady, too.

I remember when I was really a kid. I thought old people were really “old people.” I didn’t realize that they were just kids hanging out in old bodies.

What an odd set of circumstances.

I have a totally different view of aging now than I did when I was in that “forever young” state.

I now understand what “they” meant when “they” said “youth is wasted on the young.” Because it certainly was wasted on me.

It didn’t occur to me I was getting older until I hit 50.

And to top it all off, this all happened in what seems like an overnight.

My husband and I were in Hawaii last November. I looked around and commented on the age of most of the people walking around the tourist trap that we were walking around in. My comment was thus, “wow, there are sure a lot of old people around here,” and he replied, “and so are we.” I almost laughed and cried at the same time.

And so, with all of that, hang on to your hats, my friends. For this is a fast ride and if you blink you might miss it!

  1. I know exactly how you feel!! I am 61 and have to remind myself of that. It's funny how I don't feel my age. I think because we keep busy doing the things we love it must help us not to think of aging. And may I add - you don't look 60! You look great.

As they say, age is just a number. We certainly are young at heart!
Hugs to you - pretty lady!

  2. Oh thank you, Pat. Part of the youthful appearance could be due to Loreal "light brown" No. 6BB.. Young at heart we are! Take care, hugs, Vicki

  8. I've been feeling "old" lately, too, tho I'm not yet 50. Reconnecting with high school friends and realizing that I'm older than what our parents were when we were in school....wow! That just blows me away. And certainly having children speeds up time. I still feel like I'm 20 or 25. Time and aging is an odd, surreal, and amazing process.

By the way, despite the Loreal help, you still look very young. You have great skin. :)

    Love ya,
    Tracy

  9. Time and aging certainly is a strange old process and your so right Vicki, if you blink you might miss it. The older we get the quicker time seems to go by. Every time I look at my daughters I feel ancient lol, but, as they say "Your only as old as you feel" and you are certainly looking great! Take care.
