Feet First ..

On page 135 of my favorite teddy bear instruction book, “101 Bears to Make” by Nancy Tillberg, are instructions for silk ribbon embroidery and a photo of a teddy bear paw embellished in roses, beads and lovely green leaves. Ever since I saw that photo, I have wanted to learn how to do this, but I thought it was going to be difficult, so I put it off until a couple of weeks ago when I just sat down and decided to learn the procedure. And guess what? It wasn’t that difficult after all. In fact it was so easy I almost laughed.

And I am so happy to present one of the most feminine bears I have ever made, all decked out in roses and lace… oh, I’m sure you get the picture. And, yes, the picture!!!

First here are the feet! This is the first time I ever made paws to precede the bear.

And here is beautiful Primrose. I believe she does those paws justice!

I even embroidered some roses on her little lace collar.

I just finished her a couple of days ago and today we completed the photo session. I’m not sure if she’ll be on Etsy or eBay, but she will be listed very soon.

I get so excited about learning something new and actually seeing results that I am happy with.

Thanks for the visit! Vicki

  1. Wow, she is absolutely beautiful, Vicki. I love her feet. Can't believe that's the first time you ever did this! I'm sure she'll sell right away!!

  2. Hey Tracy, hope all is well in your world and thank you, for coming by to say hi. Hugs, Vicki

  3. That's a great idea - every now and again, I like to embroider (it hasn't happened for a while admittedly, but this idea just might get me going one day!) Think your latest is beautiful - and doesn't she know it, too!

  4. Hi Isobel, how nice to hear from you. Yes, embroidery is fun and very relaxing. I'd love to see one of your bears with embroidered paw pads. Take care, Vicki

  5. Oh well done you and very nice they look too:o)) Sometimes things do look hard and complicated until you actually get down and do them so yeah I can understand why you nearly burst into laughter:o))I've also got that book and had it for a very long time.
Take care now and have a good week.
    Hugs Lyn x

  6. Hi Lyn, thanks so much! It is a great book, isn't it? Hugs, Vicki

  7. Gorgeous bear Vicki, the embroidery is WOW! =0) I guess there is no end to things that can be done when building a bear? Nugget is waving 'Hi'to you from NC!
